IMPORTANT NOTICE
Reproduced below is the text of a letter sent by Laspic Stewart, on behalf of the Board of Trustees, to all volunteers and supporters associated with Open Door Trust, Glasgow.
Dear ODT supporter,
We are deeply saddened to announce that the Trustees and Director have decided, after many months of prayerfully and practically seeking solutions in running ODT in an increasingly regulated care sector, that the work should be brought to a conclusion with effect from 1st November. The resources of the Trust would have struggled to facilitate the necessary appointment of a strong professional manager to run its day-to-day affairs and, in any case, such an appointment would have changed the face of ODT.
The above was by no means the only issue facing the Trustees. A further major issue in reaching this decision is that our vision for the future, as agreed and determined among the Trustees and in collaboration with a representative group of volunteers in the Spring of 2007, has not been possible to fulfil.
Our intention as Trustees for the future is to make use of the funds which have been given to the Trust by applying these wisely and productively in support of likeminded Christian charitable enterprises and which the Trust is empowered to do.
There is the real prospect that Hugh may seek to establish a new ministry. You may wish to provide support to him in such an endeavour and we should wish to help to facilitate that. To that end, can we ask that you give consideration to completing the enclosed form and forwarding it to Hugh so that he can contact you in due course? In the meantime, and in the circumstances, you may wish to cancel any direct debit, standing order or other giving arrangements you have with ODT.
Hugh will be the first among us to say that the saving work of the gospel goes on whether in the name of Open Door Trust Glasgow or otherwise and in that light I want to pay tribute to him and Mags and Maureen as well as to the members of the Trust's staff and our volunteer force for the ways in which they have so often pointed me to the Saviour in their lives and in their inviting me to be part of that great cause which the Trust has represented. I pay that tribute not just personally, but on behalf of all the Trustees.
Thank you from grateful hearts for all your generosity of spirit in your giving in every sense over these past years. May you know the Lord's reward for your labours.
With warmest and prayerful greetings,Laspic Stewart,
Chairman
